2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty

FINAL EVENT RESULTS

The 2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals is celebration capping off the Time Trials National Tour. Like the tour events, the year-end event will include on-track TimeAttack and TrackSprint sessions, the welcome party, Hagerty All-Participant party, and of course partner booths and social fun throughout the event. Unlike the Tour events, instead of two days, the Tire Rack Time Trials Nationals is a three-day event and adds the Holley Performance Day as a no-charge option for Time Trials Nationals entrants on Thursday. Camping at the track is encouraged, friends and family are welcome and food and drink are available on site.

FAST FACTS

ON-TRACK, drivers will tackle various configurations of the NCM Motorsports Park during the event. Final schedule is in the works, but there will be practice sessions on Friday, a TrackSprint Saturday and two TimeAttack sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The best time from each TimeAttack session plus the best run of each TrackSprint will be combined to determine finishing order and the top three in each class and overall stand on the KONI Podium and take home the trophies.

In addition to the three days of Time Trials Nationals, included in your entry fee is the optional Holley Performance Day on Thursday when there will be on-track lapping, car-control instruction on the SCCA Starting Line Course, chalk-talks with industry leaders including Apex pro and Racers360 and our coaches to give you tips on getting the most out of your car at NCM Motorsports Park.

Driver Entry Fee: $395.00 (KY Tax included) - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

* IMPORTANT: Full SCCA membership is required for this event. If you are not a current member, you'll automatically be signed up for one at checkout for an additional $80. Transponders are also required. If you do not an AMB- or Westhold-compatible, you'll need to rent one for $25 by choosing the appropriate box on the registration form.

OFF-TRACK: Those who want to experience the action, excitement and festivities of Time Trials Nationals are not limited to drivers. Corner Workers, Tech Officials, Timing and Scoring gurus and more are absolutely welcome at the event and at the parties. Helping as a volunteer, worker or officials costs nothing (you even get some goodies) and those interested can register by clicking the link below.

Event Schedule

Below you'll find the preliminary schedule for 2019 TT Nationals. Of course, it’s subject to some tweaking between now and then but, if you attended any of the National Tour events this year—or last year’s Nationals event at NCM—you’ll notice a few scheduling differences. That’s because we’ve taken what we’ve learned over the past year and added in a few ideas we want to test for next year to make a "best of" schedule. Here are some highlights:

  • All of the lapping sessions will be on the 3.15 mile Grand Full configuration.
  • We are planning for 6 groups, 33 cars per group—pretty close to where we were last year—which should give everyone plenty of room on track to get laps in.
  • Friday will give drivers three 20-minute practice sessions. These sessions will be timed to set the grids for the first TimeAttack sessions.
  • Saturday morning will feature the event's only TrackSprint (standing start, flying finish). Feedback from last year told us that one is enough, and it lets us focus on the single best piece of track. Feel free to guess which section it'll be, but we're not telling until we all get there. Each driver's best time from this element will count toward their total time.
  • Saturday afternoon, everyone will get two TimeAttack sessions at 20 minutes each. Each driver's best single lap time from the two sessions will count toward his/her total time.
  • On Sunday, we're going to try something a little different. We've noticed that by the time we get to the final sessions of an event, MOST drivers are posting their best time on the first or second flying lap, and many then pit. We also know that traffic is the biggest challenge to getting in a great lap. So, we're going to shorten the sessions to 15 minutes and cut the number of cars on track in half. Yup, half the cars. Everyone will get two sessions, and the best single lap time will count toward the total time.
  • Scoring is pretty simple: best time from each of the three elements gets added together, lowest time wins.

For those of you doing the math, that’s more than two hours of track time. And, that doesn’t include all the time you’ll get if you join us for Holley Performance Day to get a leg up on your competition.

The team at Racers360 works to improve the driving experience using drivers’ own on-board videos to coach. You’ve seen sports commentators use replays and on-screen drawing tools to talk through plays, right? Same idea, different application! This is especially helpful when you can send in a lap video from day 1 and get their coaching video back in time to review for your sessions on day 2. That’s why we are thrilled to partner with Racers360 for the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials National Tour presented by Hagerty and bring nearly instant and in-depth coaching to our participants.

The idea is simple- drivers send in their lap video, a Racers360 coach reviews it, and makes a response video with overlaid footage of them talking you through each part of your lap and where you can improve your approach to shave off valuable seconds. Each coaching video is about 20 minutes and is yours to keep so you can watch it over and over again to get that lap perfect. And these aren’t amateur coaches we’re talking about. These are seasoned professionals who have been there, done that, AND got the trophies! Names like Memo Gidley, Mike Skeen, Peter Krause, and Pippa Mann, just to give you an idea.  Curious how it all comes together? Check out an example of their coaching videos HERE.

Interested in getting some coaching from the Racers360 team? You can purchase sessions when you register for TTNT events.  They have offers and packages tailored for the TTNT crowd:

One Lap Analysis (same day turn around time): $149 - Simply send in video from any device and a coach will breakdown your driving corner by corner with an in-depth coaching session.  We turn your roughly 2 minute lap video into a 15 minute coaching session where coaches focus on driving techniques specific to the experience level you have, the car you drive and the track you are driving on.  Must be purchased a minimum of 5 days ahead of your on track session.

Data Analysis (same day turn around time) - $199 - Send in data of one session from any data logger system and a coach will review your data and film a data analysis coaching session giving you specific ways you can improve.  Must be purchased a minimum of 5 days ahead of your on track session.

Personal Coaching Package - $269 - This package includes 2 one lap analysis with same day analysis videos with a 10% discount.  You are guaranteed to have the same coach with both videos! Must be purchased a minimum of 5 days ahead of your on track session.

Check out all the options and book your session before your event!

Am I reading this right....practice will set grid??

Randall Prince

The first practice, you'll line up in whatever order you get there. Every subsequent grid will line up per your best lap of the event. If we change track configurations, you'll be gridded by lap time of the previous configuration and then we'll try to organize you the next session by that previous session's best time.

Randall Prince

There will be a number of updates later this week and next week now that we're past Solo Nationals registration opening. Thanks!

Greg C Goss

Are you allowing duplicate numbers if the drivers are in separate classes

Johnathan Oscar Burchardt

For the National Tour and Nationals we've not allowed duplicate numbers for a couple different reasons. One, we don't require class designations on the car and two, run groups are by driver experience, not class. Which means if we allowed it, we could very easily end up with multiple cars on track with the same number at the same time.

Brian Sowders

Wouldn't it make sense to post when registration will be open...on this page??

Warren Barnes

12:00PM CDT on Wednesday July 17 ✌
