2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty
2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty
The 2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals is celebration capping off the Time Trials National Tour. Like the tour events, the year-end event will include on-track TimeAttack and TrackSprint sessions, the welcome party, Hagerty All-Participant party, and of course partner booths and social fun throughout the event. Unlike the Tour events, instead of two days, the Tire Rack Time Trials Nationals is a three-day event and adds the Holley Performance Day as a no-charge option for Time Trials Nationals entrants on Thursday. Camping at the track is encouraged, friends and family are welcome and food and drink are available on site.
FAST FACTS
ON-TRACK, drivers will tackle various configurations of the NCM Motorsports Park during the event. Final schedule is in the works, but there will be practice sessions on Friday, a TrackSprint Saturday and two TimeAttack sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The best time from each TimeAttack session plus the best run of each TrackSprint will be combined to determine finishing order and the top three in each class and overall stand on the KONI Podium and take home the trophies.
In addition to the three days of Time Trials Nationals, included in your entry fee is the optional Holley Performance Day on Thursday when there will be on-track lapping, car-control instruction on the SCCA Starting Line Course, chalk-talks with industry leaders including Apex pro and Racers360 and our coaches to give you tips on getting the most out of your car at NCM Motorsports Park.
OFF-TRACK: Those who want to experience the action, excitement and festivities of Time Trials Nationals are not limited to drivers. Corner Workers, Tech Officials, Timing and Scoring gurus and more are absolutely welcome at the event and at the parties. Helping as a volunteer, worker or officials costs nothing (you even get some goodies) and those interested can register by clicking the link below.

2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals presented by Hagerty
September 26-29, 2019
Event Schedule
Below you'll find the preliminary schedule for 2019 TT Nationals. Of course, it’s subject to some tweaking between now and then but, if you attended any of the National Tour events this year—or last year’s Nationals event at NCM—you’ll notice a few scheduling differences. That’s because we’ve taken what we’ve learned over the past year and added in a few ideas we want to test for next year to make a "best of" schedule. Here are some highlights:
- All of the lapping sessions will be on the 3.15 mile Grand Full configuration.
- We are planning for 6 groups, 33 cars per group—pretty close to where we were last year—which should give everyone plenty of room on track to get laps in.
- Friday will give drivers three 20-minute practice sessions. These sessions will be timed to set the grids for the first TimeAttack sessions.
- Saturday morning will feature the event's only TrackSprint (standing start, flying finish). Feedback from last year told us that one is enough, and it lets us focus on the single best piece of track. Feel free to guess which section it'll be, but we're not telling until we all get there. Each driver's best time from this element will count toward their total time.
- Saturday afternoon, everyone will get two TimeAttack sessions at 20 minutes each. Each driver's best single lap time from the two sessions will count toward his/her total time.
- On Sunday, we're going to try something a little different. We've noticed that by the time we get to the final sessions of an event, MOST drivers are posting their best time on the first or second flying lap, and many then pit. We also know that traffic is the biggest challenge to getting in a great lap. So, we're going to shorten the sessions to 15 minutes and cut the number of cars on track in half. Yup, half the cars. Everyone will get two sessions, and the best single lap time will count toward the total time.
- Scoring is pretty simple: best time from each of the three elements gets added together, lowest time wins.
For those of you doing the math, that’s more than two hours of track time. And, that doesn’t include all the time you’ll get if you join us for Holley Performance Day to get a leg up on your competition.
