With a Town Takeover and More, The Upcoming Time Attack National Championship Just Got Even Cooler

This is it, folks – this is the last time we’re going to remind you to enter the inaugural Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack National Championship.
This Oct. 22-25, 2026, event will mark the first time SCCA has ever crowned National Champions for Time Attack competition, so it goes without saying that there will be fierce competition from those looking to cement their name in the history books. Yet, there’s more reasons to go. For instance: Eagles Canyon Raceway’s track surface is immaculate, and the facility is utterly world class. Add that more than 100 of your best friends (or soon to be friends) have already signed up, and you know you’ll be kicking yourself if you let this party pass you by.
Yet it gets better, because during the Time Attack National Championship weekend, the event will take over town square in nearby Decatur, TX. That’s gonna be awesome.
That Track
When the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack National Championship wraps at Eagles Canyon this October, just 20 drivers will have earned the distinction of National Champion. Whether you’re one of those elite few or not, the weekend will bring oodles of competition and build memories you’ll never forget, all at an utterly spectacular track.
Located northwest of Fort Worth, Eagles Canyon is a far cry from the flat terrain many associate with Texas. The 2.7-mile, 15-turn road course winds through the area's rolling hills, with more than 200 feet of elevation change along its FIA-spec layout. One of the circuit's defining features is its 2,200-foot main straight – which is looooong, fast, and fun, especially when you add in the turns that sandwich it.
Competitors won't experience the track in just one direction, either. The Time Attack National Championship format will pit drivers against Eagles Canyon in both directions, putting a different spin (hopefully not a literal spin) on the same challenging collection of corners and straights.
A Town Takeover and More
The Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge weekend will offer plenty to do beyond the competition. Test days and the Grassroots Motorsports Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge (UTCC) lead into the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday main event, while on-site camping adds to the experience.
The facility itself is worth exploring, with the Over the Top Bar & Grill overlooking the track, and a viewing area just a smidge further up allowing you to relax while taking in the on-track action.
Then, following Saturday’s final checker of the day, drivers can head to Decatur’s town square with their competition vehicles, parking around the city’s historic county courthouse.
“Everybody parks the cars in town and people from all around the area check out the cars,” explains Brad Flack, Eagles Canyon’s General Manager. “People drive in, go to the local restaurants, get a drink, and hang out for the evening. The courthouses [in these small towns] are from the mid- to late-1800s, and this is one of the coolest ones out there. It's on a square, and around the square are restaurants and shops, and people can hang out and walk around for hours.”
The drive to Decatur’s town square will be an experience, with Eagles Canyon leading the way with the track’s pace car, lights ablaze.
“We carpool there, and everybody comes back in one shot,” Flack adds. “All the little kids from the town come in and check out the race cars. It's a lot of fun.”
