Time Attack Challenge is About to Head to Autobahn, And You’re Invited

Just like with any good competition car build, we assembled this preview article about the forthcoming Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge at Autobahn Country Club on Aug. 2-3, 2025, at the last minute. And, just like most enthusiasts, we decided to cut corners where we thought nobody would notice.

Enter AI.

Let’s see what AI has to say about the upcoming Time Attack Challenge at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL – a competition type where, we must say, virtually anyone can compete in their street or race car with little more than a helmet and a modest amount of stickers. We’ll also add: There’s still time to sign up and attend.

We’ll get to that in a minute. For now, AI says “you should go to Autobahn because…”

Unrestricted Speed: The primary draw is the freedom to drive at higher speeds than typically allowed on highways. Many stretches allow drivers to push their vehicles to maximum potential.

Driving Experience: For many, Autobahn represents a unique driving experience, allowing them to feel the full characteristics of their cars and enjoy the thrill of speed.

Sense of Freedom: Beyond the technical aspects, Autobahn embodies a sense of freedom and adventure, appealing to those who enjoy pushing boundaries and experiencing the open road.

License Requirements: There are no special driver’s license requirements for American drivers visiting Germany.

Oh, no. Maybe turning to AI and asking it about “Autobahn” wasn’t the best decision – but with the exception of the last one, everything still applies to Autobahn Country Club.

Speaking of Which…

Autobahn Country Club’s 2.1-mile, 15-turn South Circuit is a true driving experience with a mix of fast straights, technical corners, and forgiving runoff areas. Want to stretch your legs at a beautiful facility with minimal consequences of vehicle damage? This is the place for you!

The Aug. 2-3 weekend is the first trip to this track for the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge, so every lap is guaranteed to be a personal best and, potentially, a class track record.

One practice session on Saturday, followed by three competition sessions each day are on the schedule. Like all Time Attack weekends, the lowest Saturday time and the lowest Sunday time for each driver are added together for the driver’s final score. Naturally, the lowest total time is the winner in each class.

Saturday’s laps will also get some special guests – SCCA Targa Chicagoland wraps a four-day high-performance adventure alongside Time Attack Challenge competitors with laps of their own.

Depending on when you read this, there might be time to sign up for Targa Chicagoland.

Can I Move In?

Yes! Well, sort of…

On-site camping at Autobahn Country Club isn’t just an option – it’s part of the adventure!

As the sun sets, the paddock transforms into a vibrant hub of camaraderie and celebration. Hang with all the other Time Attack Challenge drivers, sharing stories about nailing the perfect lap (or lamenting the one that got away), and keep the energy alive long into the night.

It’s not just about the laps, it’s about the memories you’ll make both on and off the track.
