TTNT VIR Registration Opening; PittRace Added to Schedule

The Tire Rack Time Trials Nationals Tour powered by Hagerty has added one event and begun taking registrations for another, both at major league road courses.

An August 28–29 event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex has been added to the 2021 calendar, and registration opens Wednesday at noon eastern for the first event on the tour at Virginia International Raceway. The VIR event happens March 13–14.

Called “heaven on earth” by SCCA racer and actor Paul Newman, the 3.27-mile full course at VIR will be host the Time Attack and TrackSprint sessions of the first stop on the tour.

“We are extremely excited to kick off the 2021 season of the Tire Rack Time Trials National Tour at Virginia International Raceway,” said Tour Manager John Hunter. “VIR is an excellent facility and a bucket list track.”

In addition, the tour event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex will be part of an “all things SCCA” weekend, which will also include a divisional Road Race, an SCCA Drivers School, a Road Rally and, potentially, an autocross.

“This is going to be an awesome all things SCCA weekend,” said Hunter, “No matter how you like to experience #funwithcars, this weekend will have a flavor for you!”

As part of the Tour format, both the VIR and PittRace stops will include Time Attack sessions where drivers try to put down their best single lap time and TrackSprint Sessions where drivers make a standing-start “stage” or HillClimb-style run on a segment of the course.

Registration for the second event on the tour at Buttonwillow Raceway in California will open Wednesday, January 20, and registration for each successive event on the tour will open about 90 days before the event.
